The Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers congratulates Ing. Trudy Morgan, our President, for being featured on the Engineering Icons Tube Map created through a collaboration between Transport for London (TfL) and the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE).

The Engineering Icons Map, developed by TfL and RAE, serves as a tribute to the contributions of engineers to the United Kingdom (UK). Kuldeep Gharatya, the Head of Engineering in TfL's Major Programmes Directorate, expressed that this iconic tube map represents a global city, London, built on the ingenuity of brilliant engineers who have played pivotal roles in major transportation projects across the city.

This map was created for National Engineering Day, observed on November 1, a day run by the RAE, that aims to make engineering more visible and celebrates how engineers improve everyday lives.

It recognises 274 engineers across 11 different themes, with the primary goal of highlighting and celebrating the pivotal role that engineering has played in shaping society.

Those featured on this map, according to TfL, include historical pioneers who were instrumental in London and the UK’s development, today’s innovators across diverse sectors, and emerging talent shaping the future of engineering.

Our very own President of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers, Ing. Trudy Morgan, an ever-so-inspiring engineer, is celebrated on the map in the International theme category. The Engineering Icons map, when compared with the TfL Tube and Rail map, each station is renamed after an engineering icon. The Chorleywood station was renamed after Trudy Morgan, the first female President of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers and the Co-founder of the Sierra Leone Women Engineers.

As an institution, we can confidently state that our sense of pride goes beyond words. This acknowledgement and celebration of our President's accomplishments are truly inspiring and well-deserved.
